27 avril 1960 – 27 avril 2021, cela fait déjà 61 ans que le Togo a accédé à son indépendance. Comme il est de tradition, le Chef de l’Etat Faure Gnassingbé a ranimé la veille la flamme pour commémorer l’évènement.
C’était en présence des membres du gouvernement, diplomates et personnalités de marque. Il avait à ses côtés le Premier ministre et la présidente de l’Assemblée nationale.
La cérémonie s’est déroulée dans le respect des mesures barrières imposées par le coronavirus avec un public limité.
Le Togo devient indépendant, le 27 avril 1960, et obtient un siège à l’ONU en septembre de la même année. Sylvanus Olympio est le président élu démocratiquement du Togo.
