Le Chef de l’Etat, Faure Gnassingbé a pris part ce mardi 18 mai 2021 à Paris au sommet sur le financement des économies africaines réunissant des dirigeants africains et européens.
Pour le Chef de l’État, ce sommet va offrir l’occasion d’apporter une réponse « ambitieuse » et « coordonnée » au choc qui a frappé les économies du continent africain.
« Je salue l’initiative du Président Emmanuel Macron, qui réunit des chefs d’État et de gouvernement, ainsi que des institutions financières internationales. Cette mobilisation est à l’image de l’interdépendance entre toutes les parties du monde : la résilience des économies d’Afrique est dans l’intérêt de tous. Au-delà des aspects conjoncturels, le présent sommet vise à poser les bases d’un nouveau cycle de croissance en Afrique, qui sera un relais nécessaire pour l’ensemble de l’économie mondiale », a-t-il avancé.
Il est à noter que le Chef de l’Etat était à Paris depuis le samedi 15 mai où il a eu des entretiens avec plusieurs personnalités. L’économie et le développement sont entre autres des sujets qui étaient au cœur des discussions.
Selon un communiqué rendu public par la présidence du Togo, déjà lundi, Faure Gnassingbé s’est entretenu avec le directeur général de la Société Financière Internationale (SFI) du groupe de la Banque Mondiale, Monsieur Mackhtar Diop. Les deux personnalités ont discuté des relations entre la SFI et le Togo. « Le développement des secteurs d’énergie solaire et des télécommunications au Togo a été également abordé », indique la note de la présidence.
Aussi, s’est-il également entretenu avec madame Esther Duffo, économiste franco-américaine, prix nobel d’économie en 2019. Les actions menées par le Togo dans le cadre de la lutte contre la pauvreté ont été évoquées au cours de l’audience en occurrence le programme Novissi mise en place par le Togo pour soulager les couches vulnérables durant la crise de Covid-19.
Selon le prix nobel d’économie, le Togo a démontré son leadership dans la lutte contre la pandémie du covid-19. C’est un exemple a-t-elle dit qui peut servir pour les autres pays.
La dernière personne reçue par le Chef de l’Etat est monsieur Akinwumi Adésina, président de la Banque Africaine de Développement (BAD).
Par ailleurs, dans la soirée du lundi 17 mai 2021, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé et ses pairs présents à Paris pour le sommet sur le financement des économies africaines ont pris part à un diner de travail au palais de l’Elysée à l’invitation du président français Emmanuel Macron.
Après Paris, le Chef de l’Etat, selon un autre communiqué de la présidence, se rendra à Bruxelles et à Belgique, suite l’invitation du Président du Conseil Européen, Charles Michel. « A Bruxelles, sera discuté le renforcement du partenariat entre l’Union Européenne et le Togo en matière économique, politique et commerciale », a indiqué le communiqué de la présidence togolaise.
